Airplane and motorcycle owners are probably a small niche of customers, but MotoPOD is thinking about them. The company even has a name for these people: “Motorcycle Pilot - noun. One who combines their hobbies of airplanes and motorcycles to achieve greater mobility and enjoy unique adventures.”

MotoPOD

With these adventurers in mind, MotoPOD offers a cargo pod that allows a motorcycle to be attached and carried by a plane. This way, the pilot won’t risk being stranded on an airport with bad public transport connections and will be able to explore the surroundings much easier, then pack up the bike and be on his/her way.

So far, MotoPOD is completing products for the Vans RV-10, but STC’d models will soon be available for the Cirrus SR-22, Cessna 182 and others.

And since an image is a thousand words… A presentation video after the break.

A new product might be hitting a store near you, if this ever gets manufactured on a large scale. In short, the Speed Vest it a biking vest that shows the motorcycle’s speed on the back of the rider, in lighted numbers, while aiming to is improve rider conspicuity while legitimizing bicycle speeds on the roadway.

Speed Vest

The system has three parts: a wheel speed sensor, a wearable numeric display made from electro-luminescent wire and a small computer that controls everything. Its ingenuity won it the first prize in the Hub Bike Shop’s Bike Gadget Contest in Minneapolis, MN and was scheduled to undergo some speed tests. Who know, we might actually see it in action in the future.

If a scratched car and bumped in walls are a familiar sight to you, it means parking is not your best ability. You could go on painting the car and the walls or you could get help. Technological help.

Park Right Garage Laser Park

The Park Right Garage Laser Park points a laser beam at your car so you always know exactly where you are. It’s very easy to install (no wiring needed) and it activates when the car enters the garage.

All you need to do is actually pay attention now… (Although, if you paid attention in general you wouldn’t need this in the first place.)

If you want to have your lovely iPhone by your side at all time, you could:

a) place it on the dashboard and hope it doesn’t slide off

b) modify the dashboard to safely hold the phone

c) buy an iPhone Car Mount.

iPhone Car Mount

Since it can be installed in a couple of seconds and doesn’t endanger your phone, I’d say option c) is the best. The base attaches to the windshield with a suction cup and continues with a flexible gooseneck that allows easy repositioning of the phone to get a better view. When you’re not driving, we hope.

Another thing you absolutely shouldn’t do while driving is watch videos. But when you’re stationary you can just rotate the bracket to place the iPhone in landscape position.

One thing to note, though: it doesn’t work with the iPhone 3G.

Lamborghini fans are in for a treat: now they can light and cut their cigars Lambo style. Three lines of lighters and one set of cutters are there to provide the best experience for people who love one of the best cars in the world… and the price matches the brand.

Lamborghini Il Toro Lighter

Buyers can choose between Il Toro, Forza and Estremo lighters ($135-$150), and maybe add a Torino Lamborghini Cutter for about $75. Too much for such a simple thing? Perhaps, but unique good quality products deserve it. And anyone who receives something like this will probably be blown away.

We’ve covered a lot of RC toys in the past, but this one is a bit special. One, it’s not a car, for once; it’s a motorcycle, a Ducati to be exact. Two, the driver actually leans left and right with the help of the built-in gyro.

RC Ducati

And it doesn’t stop here: spring suspensions, digital proportion steering for better control and adjustable throttle response to make the bike accelerate faster or slower.

It will cost you about $100 (£50.00) when it’s released at the end of September, but all the features are worth it.

For an impressive video of the RC Ducati in action, see after the jump.

What do you do if you don’t have the time to eat breakfast before you leave home? I’d say pack a sandwich or stop at a McDonald’s drive-through… but if you need hot, real food, you can get a microwave.

12V In-Car Microwave

Yes, really. The 12V In-Car Microwave from Maplin is designed for people on the go - although probably not meant to be used while driving. Install it in the passenger sear, power it from the 12V cigarette lighter socket or directly from the car battery and you’ll get a warm meal any time you want it.

I’m hoping it’s aimed at tailgaters, though. The idea that the guy in the car behind me is fiddling with the microwave is pretty unsettling.

Monitoring device allows good drivers to get insurance discountsIf you’re a careful driver, you might be able to lower your insurance fees - so says auto insurer Progressive Corp.

The company offers drivers the possibility of installing a monitoring device that tells Progressive what time people drive, how many miles they’ve driven, how fast they accelerate and how often they hit the brakes.

According to the results, drivers can save money - but also spend more. The discount for signing up is 10%, but at policy renewal, depending on the driving habits, customers can get discounts of up to 60%. The downside? If you’re a bad driver, you can pay up to 9% more.

This program was launched in June in Alabama, then spread to Minnesota, Oregon and Michigan, and will be made available in New Jersey in August, with more states scheduled for the future.

Maybe you know of Garmin’s range of GPS devices for motorcycles. But if you’re a Harley owner, we have more good news: you now have a GPS especially for you.

Road Tech zūmo

The Road Tech zūmo comes with all the features of the previous versions and adds several goodies for Harley bikers. Beside finding hotels, restaurant and gas stations, users will be able to use the included directory of Harley-Davidson dealerships and also download routes created with the ride planner at Harley-Davidson.com.

Since it’s a product for motorcycles, it’s got a glove-friendly design and it’s waterproof. It comes with a custom mount that’s tailored to fit the rough riding and features a theft prevention system that disables the zūmo until the user types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location.

Buell motorcycle owners will soon be able to buy special Road Tech zūmos, with the same features and functions.
