A world of mobility:Autostadt

What if you would have the opportunity to experience a world of mobility? Or maybe to experience the life of car designers and to have an inner-perspective of the auto industry? Certainly, not many of you would really refuse such a challenging invitation… For car lovers and not only, Autostad is an amazing experience. Situated in Wolfsburg, Germany near the original Volkswagen factory, this complex and unique concept will initiate you in a fascinating universe.

The Autostadt invites its visitors into the world of motion, on a 25 hectares location of rolling hills and lakes accompanied by innovatory architecture and design forms, background to numerous and multifaceted attractions. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit a number of car exhibitions, to view artworks and films and to experience interactive research stations offering the possibility for experimentation. In addition to the main museum building, housing a wide variety of the VAG marques you will have the opportunity to visit pavilions for each of the Volkswagen currently-produced brands: Bentley, Audi, Skoda, SEAT and Lamborghini.

The Autostadt gives its visitors a very unique, kaleidoscopic experience, emphasizing the real human values. Also,  the diversity of the Autostad concept represents the broadly-oriented principles of the Volkswagen Group:quality, safety, achievement and sustainability and customer-oriented services. World-wide knowledge and different philosophies underlying individual brands are mirrored mostly in the architecture and design forms presented in its pavilions. Attentively elaborated concepts and their forms of presentation will be a delight for art-lovers and high-tech enthusiasts.

One of the main attraction is the Car Museum, where visitors can enjoy classic cars and contemporary art together. In March 2008, the Museum re-opened its collections of Automobile Milestones in a completely re-designed exhibition. Unique vehicles are being displayed in contemporary design but contextualized with the use of historical images. Most of the information is embedded in stage-looking platforms. One of the most interesting possibility visitors have is to discover the CarTower. They can actually experience the CarTower from the inside. A number of six guests can be lifted by panorama lifts, using the same procedure as for every car of the 800 vehicles stored in the tower. Visitors are taken up to 48 meters, as if they were a regular car and experience adrenaline with a swinging effect. At the end of the procedure the lift will be deposited in a specially designed slot on an observation deck. The CarTower is a novelty because until recently this area was closed to the public.

Touareg All-Terrain Track is a driving application, offering pure entertainment. The driver is given the chance to cover a circuit that demands a lot of concentration in thirty minutes. It includes a deep water hazard, a sand pit, a see saw bridge, steps and a suspension bridge and the guidance of round-trip instructor. Other applications such as  Tiguan All-Terrain Track or Safety Trainings. Passat, Polo and Golf with the new Blue-Motion Technology are available for drive tests along with other economy and safety trainings. Another attractions are: the Car Design Studio, the Car Design Interface, and an Exterior Design Workshop, also available on the official site. The visitors have the opportunity to  experience a typical situation in designing, a design draft project meeting. Volkswagen gives you the chance to be more familiar with drawing techniques using a Passat as an example for what it means to be a car designer. Children will certainly not get bored while their parents visit the many offered attractions. A Driving School, a Room to Grow, The LearnPark or the Drive about land are available for different age categories.
