The Remote Controlled Forklift for the Lazy Computer Geek

Oh, yes, you have to be lazy to want one of these things: a mini remote controlled forklift to bring our beverages closer to the hand. Yes, it is easier and less time consuming to actually go and pick up the drink, but it isn’t nearly as much fun as this method. See the movie below to understand what I am saying (or go and buy it, if you want to):

Well, nothing is gonna surprise me anymore. After Renault Formula 1 launching salt and pepper shakers, why not Porsche launching a set of knives? Soon, we will see Ferrari stoves, Chrysler spoons and what not. Anything to nake a cook happy.

Porsche Knives

Well, the Porsche you see on the knives, though, is not really related to the cars manufacturer we all love. The only connection is that the creator of the knives, F.A. Porsche is a noted industrial designer and grandson of the founder of Porsche automobiles. More, these knives are not used in a common kitchen, usually, these are the same knives prominently used in cooking competitions, including the legendary Bocuse d’Or.

Anyway, why not buy some? Who’s to now that they are not the same with the Porsche all want to drive, be it cabrio, coupe or SUV?

Car or Reindeer - The Santa Claus Car Kit

No matter what you do, kids these days will almost sure not believe you Santa is real. Some of the kids will be even better than you at bringing soda next to their hand on the computer.

What if you show them the car Santa uses to come to bring the gifts? For any modern child, it should be clear that Santa uses a car (and what do you say, it’s identical to the one the kid’s parents have). So, how do you turn your car into Santa’s car? By using the reindeer kit. You have a big red nose and a pair of oversized 16″ jingle-bell plush antlers to attach to your car, as seen in the image above.

You can find them online for only $15.95.

Someone at Renault thought of celebrating the return of the prodigal son Fernando Alonso by launching… salt and pepper shakers.

Renault Formula1 salt and pepper shaker

What nobody prepares you for, though (like anybody would prepare you for a salt shaker from Renault) is the price: approx. $2200, or EUR1500. What the… ? Why would anybody pay that much on pepper and salt shakers? OK, I know, they are made from gearbox oil filter housing of the Renault formula one car. I knoooow, but still… Or, is it possible that there is only one set? Or is Renault facing bankruptcy? And this makes it an exclusive offer?

See below where those pieces come from in the car: Read the rest of this entry »

I like my car, as you would expect, and I would not put bumper stickers on it. I payed quite a hefty sum on the paint job to care.

Hacker Bumper Sticker

Geek Bumper Sticker

But, on the other hand, this shouldn’t be your choice. I mean, if I had the opportunity of these bumper stickers several years ago, when I paid on the entire car as much as I paid for the paint job on my current car, I would probably have filled the entire car with these stickers. And then wasn’t even fashionably to be a geek :D

So, here are some of the Geek Bumper Stickers you can find around the web: Read the rest of this entry »

Once upon a time, people used to shop for Christmas. And every time they went to the magic shop also known as Mall they had a reaaaallllyyy big problem: they forgot where they put their horses. Or deers. Or ponies. Or whatever dog they used to get there.

So, what would a good fairytale hero do? Of course, he (or she, to be politically correct) would teach their animals human language. Yes, they would give them the gift of speaking.

Chevrolet Loc8tor or The Story of The Noisy Parking LotStupid story, right? Well, Chevrolet actually thought a long time about it and invented… K.I.T.T.Y, The Loc8tor!! Not as stupid as the Beer Bringer Remote Controled Desktop car, but still: the device that makes your car speak whatever you want it to speak.
I really don’t think there is anymore to it than that.
One thing is for sure, the hero in our fairytale was clearly a heroine. Who else could call something K.I.T.T.Y. ( it comes from Key Innovation That Talks to You, if you were wondering).

So, for the last 10 minutes I’ve been laughing uncontrollably thinking about a big mall parking lot with cars talking. One to another or everyone to its owner, you choose. And since humans tend to have the same tastes (think about ringtones), I am already imaging: a parking lot with cars moaning your name with JJ’s voice. Or with cars singing the latest Crazy Frog hit. Or simply calling names. I would pay to see people finding their cars then. Or, the ultimate solution: make every car sound like a Formula 1 race car. Or like a muscle car. Or making Tarzan’s fight call. And I could keep going.

Chevrolet Loc8tor or The Story of The Noisy Parking Lot

Somebody should tell all those people it might be a lot simpler to write the exact location on their hand, with a simple Ball Pen.

Yeah, whatever! If you feel you need one, please go and buy a Chevy. Or go here and buy a homing beacon.

Audi is a great car. I should know, I own one. But I never thought of forgetting my keys in the contact, while the engine is started and, more, close shut my doors. I would probably need to drink around 30 beers using this Beer Bringer Remote Controled Desktop car to do something that stupid.

The guys in the movie below did it, though. And for 8 minutes they tried to break the window of the car with things varying from a screwdriver, a winch and what not: they even thought they were actors and tried to hit it with the foot or strike it with the fist. None worked. They finally managed to enter in the car. Watch the movie to see what they used to break the window.

Of course, that stone is not really a gadget, but it is Friday and we should have some fun.

Later edit: In the Digg thread to this story (thank you, Diggers, for thinking it’s worth digg-ing it), user bloodgc suggested a spark plug as a solution and gave the link to the video below, where a guy uses a spark plug to smash a car window:

Later edit: In the comments to the movie, the guys that were in the movie said that they called the Audi dealer that suggested this solution (breaking the window). They chose the right window because it was the only one that was in stock at the dealer.

Horse-Powered Energy Drink by Fiat Abarth Next time you speak to your friends, ask them: “And how many HPs it has?”. I bet everyone will stare at you and you will be able to show them this post, in which we tell you that Fiat used an energy drink as a publicity stunt at this year’s Bologna Motor Show.

Still, people at the show said you really didn’t need any kind of energy drink if you looked at the girls at the Fiat section.

You go out. You park the car. You take the basketball out of the car. Attach the basketball board to the back of the car. You start playing.

Or NOT! This is a kid’s toy. You have it in your car when you go out with your kids. Still, it is a funny device, which might provide some fun in the first moments, though I consider it preeeetty useless.

And apparently the market thought so, too, since they thought the $500 price tag was too steep. Because the initial website is now gone. Forever. For good. No trace of it. So you can’t buy the toy even if you want to.
