Cutting pizza with a Chopper motorcycle?

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 24 2008, in the categories: Moto

Chopper Pizza CuttersWhat do pizza and motorcycles have in common? Nothing, you say?

Well, from now one they have at least one thing. Artist Frankie Flood has designed five pizza-cutters inspired by Choppers, to show that even day-to-day objects can be a form of art. The pizza cutters are (appropriately) called Mantis, Psycho Pizza Cadillac, Easy Rider, Pizza for Life and Phatboy and were recently exhibited at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
Even if you don't agree that this is art... at least it could make eating more fun, right? And motorcycle lovers would probably like these as a gift.

Scala Q2 lets you talk with riding buddies

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 18 2008, in the categories: Accesories, Hands Free, Mobile Phones, Moto

First the Rider Scala gave you the option to add Bluetooth to any motorcycle helmet and made talking on a cell phone much easier than taking it out of your pocket and having it blown 1 mile back down the road.
scala_rider_q2.jpg

Two years later, the updated Scala Rider Q2 brings something even better. Now you can talk to other Q2 users up to a distance of 500 meters (1640 feet), in full-duplex. The range might be limited, but this disadvantage balances out with the fact that you don't have to push any button to talk and that you don't have to stop speaking in order for your partner to say something.

Because, like its former version, the Q2 is Bluetooth-enabled, you can make and receive phonecalls and get vocal instructions from your GPS. And, if you get bored of talking to people, you can always use the FM radio feature.

Track Your Motorcycle with BikeGPSTracking

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 09 2008, in the categories: Accesories, GPS Devices, Moto

Track Your Motorcycle with BikeGPSTrackingMotorcycle theft is not necessarily a threat to bikers, but I would feel a lot better if I would know my bike is where it is supposed to be all the time (or, at least almost all the time).

BikeGPSTracking is supposed to be the best in Bike/Motorcycle GPS Tracking and Theft Recovery. Their system includes, among other things:

# Locate your bike if it gets stolen
- Know where your motorcycle has traveled with unlimited, continuous tracking
- Ignition on/off alerts
- Tether alarm; panic switch
- Small size; can be easily hidden
- Track anywhere in the USA and Canada (Mexico optional)
- Lowest cost GPS tracking for motorcycles and ATV's

Of course, don't take your bike with you if you are planning a visit to Europe :)

Save Fuel and Money with Moletech Fuel Saver Capsules

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 07 2008, in the categories: Auto, Car, Moto

Edit: Some guy proposed this article on Digg, and the diggers have commented on the post. Here are some of them, so it might be a scam after all:

These have been spammed across tons of automotive forums. The verdict: they'll damage your fuel pump.

Don't buy these and don't put them in your tank. Don't believe me? Google "Fuel Saving Pill", and check out the fraud reports. Most of them report having to spend $600 fixing their car due to clogging fuel filters and fuel pumps. This company is very sketchy and moves locations many times a month, so you can't pin them with lawsuits easily.

Save Fuel and Money with Moletech Fuel Saver CapsulesWhen I am thinking of lower fuel consumption, I am usually thinking of car manufacturers building better engines. I would have never thought of giving my car some capsules that would reduce the quantity of fuel I use. I mean, I know a sure method to stop fuel consumption at all (wrecking my car), but that's an option I prefer not to choose. So, when I first read about this I was laughing my bottom off (I would have said a$$, but I am not that... ooops, I said it anyway).

Still, after some reading, my opinion started to change gradually. Agreed, I didn't check it, but it still sounds like a great idea and it seems that it actually works. They have a letter from California Environmental Engineering that says it really works. More, they have a 27 pages report from Dr. Peter Dingle (check an interview with him here) from Murdoch University, School of Environmental Science, Division of Science and Engineering that also confirms the improvements.

So, how do the capsules work? I can't explain it better than they do:

In summary, we restructure the environment for the fuel, water and air within the vehicle's operating system, to thereby deliver more kilometres per litre, reduce dangerous exhaust pollutants and most importantly, lower harmful greenhouse gases.

What I didn't see is if there are any side effects in the long run. I mean, if your car breaks down in a year because of the capsules, you should better not use them at all. Unless you have a Hummer. Then, it might be worth it.

You can use these capsules in virtually any engine, as I can see from their page, from cars to scooters and motorcycles.

Huge Motorcycle: Big Toe

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 16 2007, in the categories: Funny, Moto, Transport

Not really a gadget, but truly, not a motorcycle either: the Big Toe, as it was named, is a huge motorcycle, standing at 7.5 feet high (2.3 meters). And, what is more important, it can be used on public roads.

Huge Motorcycle: Big Toe

Big Toe is powered by a 1975 Vintage Type E Jaguar SOHC 2 valve 60 degree 300HP 5.3L 12cylinder engine. Intake comes from 45mm twin choke Weber carburetors and a custom stainless muffler system handles the exhaust.

More, as you can see in the photos, it has helper wheels on the back wheel, since it is too big to be controled from the top.

Skull Helmet for Bikers

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 13 2007, in the categories: Accesories, Moto

I like riding a bike, I think there is an unique sensation, but I do not like the guys that don't use a full faced helmet. I would never ride a bike without a full faced helmet.

Still, since the Internet is raving lately about this Skull Helmet, I thought I would present it here. We wouldn't really be a blog about auto & moto gadgets if we wouldn't, isn't it? Read more here, if you want to.

Motorcycle Engine USB Hub: Start the noise!

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 13 2007, in the categories: Gadgets, Moto, Sound, Toys

I never thought I would ever ride a motorcycle, but last year I tried my luck and fell in love with it. Nevertheless, I don't ride a motorcycle during winter, but I sometimes miss the noise. Not anymore, with the Motorcycle Engine USB Hub.

Yes, this is actually an USB 2.0 hub, with 3 USB slots. But what makes it different is the NOISE. Yes, it makes the same noise a motorcycle does (a chopper, to be more precise). And what is even more fun, the hub has a starter pedal and gear shift moving parts, so you can accelerate and change gears. The noise is, of course, changing accordingly. See more in the clip below:

New GPS Devices from Jeep and Garmin

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 11 2007, in the categories: Auto, Car, GPS Devices, Moto

Jeep is the brand we all know and (sometimes) love: they make big cars and they are the ones that created the 4x4 truck (or the SUV, however you wanna call it).

Jeep GPS RT 300

But... now we have the Jeep GPS RT 300. Really, how different can it be from any other GPS on the market? Did we really needed that? I know fans of the car will buy it, but does it have a market elsewhere? Would you buy a Jeep GPS device to attach it to your Kia Ceed or whatever?

Next, the Garmin Colorado comes with a handheld series for their GPS line: the 300, the 400.

Garmin Colorado 400 Handheld GPS series

It has some interesting features, starting with the wheel on top and the ability to show aerial photos (raster imagery) . More, the device has wireless capabilities and support for the display of detailed geocaching information.

James Bond style license plate flipper for cars and bikes

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Nov 29 2007, in the categories: Accesories, Auto, Funny, Moto

OK, not really James Bond like, but almost similar. You can now flip the license plate of your car or bike and show a message to the guys behind you. Of course, it has to be a short and insightful message like "make love, not war", "love thy neighbor", "flower power". No, not that kind of short messages! And no, you cannot ask that person to bring you beer!

James Bond style license plate flipper for cars and bikes

Of course, it sounds funny and all, but you have to take into consideration that it might be sort of illegal. The guys that created the gadget say it should only be used off road, because it has the potential to damage your car if you use it on road. Yeah, sure! What else? You can, though, consider the led license plate frame:

Of course, you shouldn't use it because of the cops. It might be fun to pass the speed traps with the license plate flipped, but think that you might fool a camera, but not a police officer. Sorry, what? Ah, yes, you just shouldn't use it. Though it might be fun... Wouldn't it? Oh, and it happened in New Zealand: a guy got chased and caught for using such a system. So it happens: you really get caught.
