Receipt.Catcher helps airheads organize their car expenses

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 20 2009, in the categories: Auto, Car, Others

If you had to produce a gas receipt from last month, would you be able to find it in less than 15 minutes? For most people, it's a big NO. The gloves compartment is usually a big black hole where papers go in, but never come out.

The Receipt.Catcher is supposed to help, but you need some willpower to begin with: you have to put receipts in the right compartment when you get them. The organizer only provides the means: six labeled compartments, plus a mileage log in case it's difficult to remember exact how much you drive every day.

The best part: it won't cost you a lot. Retails for $7 on Amazon.com.

$6 breathalyzer might or might not tell you when you’re too drunk to drive

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jan 12 2009, in the categories: Auto, Car, Others

If you feel you might be too drunk to drive... the best idea is not to do it, period. But if you'd like to know exactly how much alcohol there's in your blood, you can give the Keychain Breathalyser with Flashlight a try.

The gadget promises to tell you in 5 seconds if you're fit to drive, and it signals the state of the user with 3-colored LEDs:
- Green light: Safe - under 0.02% BAC (or 0.1mg/l BRAC)
- Yellow light: Caution - 0.02% BAC (or 0.1mg/l BRAC) to 0.05% BAC (or 0.25mg/l BRAC)
- Red and yellow light: Danger - over 0.05% BAC (or 0.25mg/l BRAC)

Now, since it only costs $6... you can assume it's not the best quality item in the world, so trusting it with your safety (and maybe life) might not be the best idea, but it could at least serve as confirmation after you've had those 4 beers.

Dice wouldn't be the first thing most people would think about when they hear "Harley-Davidson product", but... indeed you can find them, in the form of the Harley Davidson Travel Yahtzee set.

Harley Davidson Travel Yahtzee set

The set includes 5 custom Harley-Davidson dice (of course), custom Tin Oil Can dice cup, score pad, pencil and rules. I don't know if there's many biker Yahtzee fans out there... but if you know one, now you have a good idea for a present.

Light cigars in style with the new Lamborghini range of lighters and cutters

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Aug 20 2008, in the categories: Auto, Car, Others

Lamborghini fans are in for a treat: now they can light and cut their cigars Lambo style. Three lines of lighters and one set of cutters are there to provide the best experience for people who love one of the best cars in the world... and the price matches the brand.

Lamborghini Il Toro Lighter

Buyers can choose between Il Toro, Forza and Estremo lighters ($135-$150), and maybe add a Torino Lamborghini Cutter for about $75. Too much for such a simple thing? Perhaps, but unique good quality products deserve it. And anyone who receives something like this will probably be blown away.

Light-up coin for collectors and Corvette fans

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jul 29 2008, in the categories: Auto, Car, Others

I'm bored of all the RC cars and famous car replicas and all that. Time for something different: a 1953 First General Motors Corvette Light Up Car Coin.

corvette_coin.jpg

This officially-licensed 71 mg .925 silver clad coin is a non-circulating legal tender of the Republic of Palau (which is known for many other collector coins). But the most interesting (kitschy?) part are the lights: if you push the Corvette logo on the back of the coins, the headlights of the car light up.

Cool or not? You decide.

Breakfast for car lovers

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Jul 09 2008, in the categories: Auto, Car, Others

When they're not busy fiddling with their car, drooling over the latest Lamborghini or buying a new shiny gadget, automobile lovers have to eat just like all of us.

Engine-er Place Setting

If you're a car fanatic or have one in your life, you can make breakfast much more interesting with the Engine-er Place Setting. Now you'll be able to eat your cereal from a tire (with an included hubcap, of course), sip your coffee from a piston and use wrenches for cutlery. Not real ones, of course, that would make it a bit too difficult; their kitchen versions are much more practical. The hubcap lid snap-locks on to keep food fresh, the insulated chrome-plated mug keeps the coffee hot and the wrenches have real cutlery on the other end.

You can get the set for $59.99, or buy the pieces separately.

How Not to Open an Audi: Unbreakable Windows on an A4 (The Ultimate Gadget)

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 07 2007, in the categories: Accesories, Auto, Car, DIY, Funny, Others

Audi is a great car. I should know, I own one. But I never thought of forgetting my keys in the contact, while the engine is started and, more, close shut my doors. I would probably need to drink around 30 beers using this Beer Bringer Remote Controled Desktop car to do something that stupid.

The guys in the movie below did it, though. And for 8 minutes they tried to break the window of the car with things varying from a screwdriver, a winch and what not: they even thought they were actors and tried to hit it with the foot or strike it with the fist. None worked. They finally managed to enter in the car. Watch the movie to see what they used to break the window.

Of course, that stone is not really a gadget, but it is Friday and we should have some fun.

Later edit: In the Digg thread to this story (thank you, Diggers, for thinking it's worth digg-ing it), user bloodgc suggested a spark plug as a solution and gave the link to the video below, where a guy uses a spark plug to smash a car window:

Later edit: In the comments to the movie, the guys that were in the movie said that they called the Audi dealer that suggested this solution (breaking the window). They chose the right window because it was the only one that was in stock at the dealer.

Horse-Powered Energy Drink by Fiat Abarth

Published by AutoMotoGadgets, on Dec 07 2007, in the categories: Auto, Car, Funny, Others

Horse-Powered Energy Drink by Fiat Abarth Next time you speak to your friends, ask them: "And how many HPs it has?". I bet everyone will stare at you and you will be able to show them this post, in which we tell you that Fiat used an energy drink as a publicity stunt at this year's Bologna Motor Show.

Still, people at the show said you really didn't need any kind of energy drink if you looked at the girls at the Fiat section.
