Positioning the speakers – I have seen many, many audio installations that have invested a lot of money but were far below results possibilities purchased equipment. To get the most out of your system and even to get what you want without having to buy expensive equipment you should give lots and lots of attention to positioning the speakers-with particular attention to some basic rules.

First, I learned that experience is best to spend your money on, expensive speakers for the “front” of the car, not the back. Think and you want all the quality and dynamic front, right? How many concerts have you been where you sat with his back to the scene? And more, because they are close, you have the bonus of more volume and less consumption.

The human ear is able to locate the position in space of sound sources, such as a speaker. This is accomplished by a simple calculation of the brain: the time difference between sound reception by one ear and the other. So to get a balanced sound and effective “surround” speakers need to be at equal distance from the ear, that is equidistant.

This is why so many modified cars have speakers, tuned in angle, installed in places around the foot, the best place for their location in front to ensure equi-distance. Speakers factory installed in these places do nothing than to lavish sound to his feet, so to avoid this will require their placement in front but angled so that you direct the sound to the interior compartment.

Where can if desired separated components as mid range sites (circles) and high to be tied with, their fitting remote location will trick the brain and sounds will not be precise and “surround the” affected. The best thing would be to mount a tweeter and a woofer to 6 inches apart, coaxial speakers mounted woofer and tweeter in the middle is the ideal solution.

BAS! Everyone loves bass. Bass is not directed, that you can mount a subwoofer about anywhere and have the same result. Parrot launches new range of music control systems made for iPod

Parrot - the wireless mobile telephone accessories company, not the bird – has recently launched a new range of iPod-enabled music control systems for your car. The MKi series features 2 microphones, speech synthesis (text to speech) and USB mp3, and works with iPods and iPhones. The three new models are the MKi9000, MKi9100 and MKi9200. Each comes with an independent RF remote control.

Only the basic model, the MKi9000, doesn’t have a screen – the other two feature a blue OLED 2 lines display (9100) and a color TFT 2.4’ dot matrix (9200). The screens of the latter two models are detachable for improved security. All of them feature spoken called ID, with the two more advanced models also displaying it.

Grom USB car interface streams music from a flash drive

Nowadays you’ve got many ways of streaming music in your car, be it with an FM transmitter or a car tape adapter. The inconvenience is obvious: you need an mp3 player (with a working battery… as many of us have found out, iPods do tend to die during long trips).

The GROM USB MP3 Car Interface eliminates that problem: it connects any flash drive directly to the car stereo. Unfortunately, right now you can only use it if you own an Audi, BMW or Volkswagen. But there’s good news for Acura, Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes, Škoda, and Toyota owners: a version for their cars is planned for this month, so be on the lookout.

Car casette MP3 player blends new tech with the old

If you have a new car, chances are it came equipped with an MP3 player. But if you own an older vehicle, you might still have a casette player. If that is the case and you don’t want to connect an iPod or similar player, you can simply get a memory card and the Car Cassette MP3 Player.

Retro VW van plays records

If you don’t know what to buy for your VW fan friend, you can skip all the modern licensed products this time and go for something old-fashioned and original.

Originally launched in the ’70, the Soundwagon Portable Record Player has been reborn. This retro licensed VW van is actually a record player: if placed on a vinyl, it moves along at 33 1/3 speed and uses its speakers to render the music.

While it can be pretty impressive for people who weren’t around in the golden days of records, the downside is there isn’t a 45 RPM model and, of course, the sound isn’t nowhere near perfect.

Of course, it probably won’t ever be used to play records, but make sure the recipient at least has one 33 1/3 record to show it off to curious guests.

Speakers on a motocycle don’t make much sense… But perhaps you want to listen to music while standing still.
