Optionals On A Car

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

What optionals should we buy ? Another interesting topic, especially in a world where the car is no longer seen just as much a means of transport, how we choose the car with optional amenities just follow this order. Are they useful,  do we need them urgently or is it just money thrown in the wind?

Although apparently optional amenities contribute to the resale value of a car, and during use may confer some degree of comfort in addition to a standard equipment, however, most times it does not justify the money invested. I tried a careful analysis of optional amenities usual, without a considered exhaustive, to see which ones are effective, useful in actual traffic, but also how they contribute, positively or negatively to the total acquisition cost of a car.

ABS
The equipment is already standard in most countries of the world, but its still optional in some cases, are offered at low prices. It recommends adding the optional list before buying a car. It offers enhanced active safety and value in addition to resale.

ESP (Electronic Stability Program)
Great efforts are made by the FIA (Federation International Automobile) for placing the equipment required in equipping the number of new cars of ESP, the benefits of this system are great. For the record, in 2002, 1,200 lives were saved from death, if the car is moved, the driver and passengers, were equipped with ESP! Sometimes the package offered ABS + ESP + EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), are options that deserve to be paid, because they can save your life even without realizing …

Air conditioning
For our country’s climate air-conditioning is necessary, not essential. Remains an endowment worth paid, keeping the resale value of your car. Air conditioning with automatic adjustment is more expensive with 3-500 euros in general, but abundantly deserves its money.

Traction control
Sometimes wrongly considered an option only for powerful cars, traction control (TC, TCS) is a very useful additional equipment especially in winter. In conjunction with a set of tires appropriate season, can make the difference between a nice vacation and a miss, sometimes being as effective as a 4×4. To consider when buying a car.

Cruise control – Automatic speed control
There have not dawn the car in such a system features a speed control, especially in our country, the reality is that, irrespective of the two “highways” of Romania, the local road infrastructure to compete successfully in the futility of such a system. So, if you do not visit Europe 6 times a year, cruise control does not make money in Romania.

Navigation System
Other equipment “relative” for local drivers, “the navigation system” remains in question, especially as Romania has just updated maps. Sometimes, the navigation system is useful, depends more on what purpose you need it for. Depends on each person if they want to buy it.

The benefits of Houdini Automotive Escape Tool

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

We’ve already told you three months ago about Houdini’s Escape Tool. Now I found a nice review about it. The gadgeteer tested it and they presented us how to use it correctly.

Julie used a 5 x 5 inch piece of glass and she admitted it wasn’t so sexy as testing the tool in a real vehicle. After that she said:

The Houdini Pro has a window breaking tip just like the non-Pro tool. The only difference is that the Pro tool is easier to handle since it is larger, and you don’t have to remove any parts to use it. To test the window breaker, you place the tip on the glass and push down. The spring loaded tip will depress and then a point inside it will pop out with enough force to shatter the glass. It’s very quick and easy to do. It does not require significant effort. I think even a child could probably do it if instructed properly.

Now, let’s see how the piece of glass looked after Houdini’s Escape Tool did the master job. Completely shattered.

How long do you prepare a road trip for? How many times have you had unexpected troubles with your car, with the police (because of breaking the speed limit), with your dirty car (because you couldn’t find a car wash in your way and the license plate wasn’t visible) or just because you like to drink a little bit over the limit? Protect your hands when driving

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

I’ve met people who had big problems because of cuts. It’s true, they didn’t have problems because of something the steering wheel grip did, but because of something knives or other strange objects did. Just imagine how many bacteria there are on the steering wheel or on the gear shift. You have no idea. The bacteria cause most of these infections.

I won’t start to tell you my medicine theories, but i will tell you how to protect your hands when driving. These particular, fashion and funny gloves are made from 100% polyester with acrylic resin grips. The gloves have been tested for comfort and fade resistance.

For those who want some style for their cars: GPS Ferrari Edition

gps ferrari edition

If you could think of one word to describe a GPS, what would it be? If I say “Ferrari”, it might not be the right word, and people are bound to say I’m a little bit crazy. I admit one of my dreams is to own a car like this but if you want to buy me a GPS I advise you to chose something else. Not because I don’t like it but because it won’t fit on my car.

The Ferrari Traffic Assist Pro is nice looking (like almost all Ferrari’s products), it has a 4.3″ touchscreen, map data for Europe and United States, Bluetooth handsfree set, telephone and address book, lane info assistant etc.

Now go and buy the adequate car for this gadget! More details here, via.

Price: $535

I am your father while the car is moving

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

darth vader car gadgetI can’t say I’m a Star Wars fan, but I laughed out loud when the Darth Vader car gadget showed up in front of my eyes. Especially because, while your car is moving, the little figurine makes some noise.

I wonder how the dark lord will feel if the car goes into a ditch? Probably I’ll say the F-word and he will answer “I am your father!“. Or if my car battery can’t provide enough energy to start the lights the lord will tell me something along the lines of “Do not underestimate the power of the dark side!“.

The catch line for car crash is “I find your lack of faith disturbing!“.

Anyway I found Darth Vader version 1.0 funny. The price to have your car as a deadly X-Wing is £7.04.

Deer and animal whistle prevents car accidents

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

As you know, all of us have problems with animals when we drive. A dog may appear out of the blue in front of your lovely 20000 or more dollars car and you can’t avoid the waste of time, because of the broken front bumper. More than that, the dog is dead, which is not the best option and your time is precious.

Last year I had several problems with dogs barking at my wheels. I don’t know if they like how the wheel spins at 60 MPH or they’re just stressed out. Let’s say “the dog” is the best thing that could happen to you, but if “the dog” transforms into “a cow” or “a deer”, what will you do? Wings damaged, windshield broken and why not, your head stuck in the steering wheel?

For those who had accidents in the past that involved animals, I have found the solution: “Deer and animal repellent warning whistle air activated”! I don’t know if i ever found such a helpful gadget for me. From now on, imagine a safe drive without smacking dumb animals on the road!

deer and animal whistle

Deer Warning Whistles alert animals in the area you are driving and fits all trucks, motorcycles and cars. Vehicle must be moving faster than 35 MPH to operate. They say it’s easily removed for cleaning and it’s tiny. All at just $7.95.
